Crash in Jackson County claims one life

JACKSON COUNTY, Okla. (KFDX/KJTL) — A woman from Greer County, Oklahoma, has died following a crash in Jackson County on Monday afternoon.

According to the accident report from Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision occurred just before 1 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, on U.S. 283 at East County Road 153, about a mile north of Blair, Oklahoma, in Jackson County.

The OHP accident report said a 1995 Peterbilt and a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado were traveling northbound on U.S. 283.

According to the accident report, the truck tractor slowed to make an eastbound turn onto County Road 153 when the Silverado impacted the Peterbilt from behind.

OHP officials said Mary Drumm, 73, of Granite, Oklahoma, the driver of the Silverado, was transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The accident report noted a seatbelt was not in use in the Silverado at the time of the accident.

According to the accident report, the driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.

Further information, including the cause of the collision, has not been released by OHP at this time. The crash is under investigation.
