Husband, wife jailed after allegedly shooting at one another while children present

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A husband and wife have both been charged after an early morning confrontation in which a rifle was allegedly fired and at least one shot was fired from a handgun at a vehicle the husband and two children were leaving in.

The woman involved, Chante Ross, has three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and the man involved, Malon Allen, has one count of the same charge.

While there are discrepancies between the suspects' stories, police said they received the call of possible gunshots around 3:25 a.m. on Monday, July 8, in the 1000 block of Ridgeway. An officer found spent shell casings from a .380 caliber gun on the porch.

Ross reportedly told police she and Allen were in an altercation after they came home from a bar, and she fired her gun and that Allen left with his kids. A witness told police she saw Ross firing her gun from the porch.

Ross said before she fired the gun, Allen had gotten a rifle from the bedroom, loaded a round in it, pointed it at her, and fired. A witness reported hearing Allen threatening to shoot Ross as he put his kids in the car. Police said they found the rifle on a bed with a round next to it.

Other officers went to find Allen at an apartment on Barnett, and he admitted loading the rifle but said he did not fire it.

He said as he left in his vehicle with his 3-year-old and 10-year-old children, his vehicle was struck by a bullet.

Police said they found what appeared to be a bullet hole in the rear of the vehicle.
