Iowa Park youth group travels 12 miles bearing cross for Good Friday

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — In honor of Good Friday, several members of the Iowa Park Refuge Church Youth Group took to the streets to raise awareness of the hardships Jesus Christ went through as he was crucified.

Youth pastor Scott Skinner and his youth group set off from Berend Turf and Tractor on Seymour Highway and traveled 12 miles back to Iowa Park.

The kids traded off carrying the cross as they traveled down Seymour Highway to Barnett Road, down Wellington, then Kovarik to FM-369, and made their last turn onto Old Iowa Park Road.

Skinner said he hopes this demonstration has a lasting impact on his youth group.

"Carrying something for 12 miles, even if you break it up, carrying a cross for a mile is a struggle. Christ was beaten; he had a Crown of Thorns, and he carried a cross much heavier than this 600 yards up a hill," Skinner said. "I hope they just take away some little something of what our Savior went through for us."
