Lake Wichita parking lot now complete after repaving

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A new, repaved parking lot will now make it easier for Lake Wichita visitors to enjoy different parts of the park.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Tuesday morning, March 26, celebrated its completion, but Wichita Falls Mayor Tim Short said it's more than a parking lot — it's a symbol of progress in the city.

Compared to the way the old parking lot looked six months ago, residents should be proud, Short said. The new lot provides access to the Circle Trail and Veterans Plaza.

With a project price tag that fell just under $800,000, the lot was paid for with 4-B Funds.

Local veteran Jeremy Skelton said this new parking lot will make it easier for veterans and members of the community to come visit Veterans Plaza.

"To have the parking lot repaved makes things easier not only for the local veterans in the area and our families but also for us to fill it for the community to finally be able to get a chance to come out here and actually, experience the plaza the way it was meant to be," Skelton said.

The Daughters of the American Revolution will honor Vietnam War veterans this Friday afternoon, March 29 at 2 p.m. at Veterans Plaza.
