One of the oldest churches in Wichita Falls set to close

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The trend of church closings now includes one of Wichita Falls’ oldest and most distinctive churches, the church with the gold dome, Floral Heights United Methodist.

The church on 10th Street will close at the end of this month after 100 years of service to this community.  All of its various ministry outreach programs will also cease.

In a vote of the around 300-member congregation, the vote was 61-1 to close and merge with the two other United Methodist churches here.

The church building will be put up for sale and if sold, money will be split between the two other churches.

The final service will be on April 28, 2024, with former pastors expected to be in attendance and the history of the church out for people to see.
