WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Thursday's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with temperatures pushing up into the upper 90s and lower 100s during the afternoon.

Feel free to make a copy of the sentence above as that will be the majority of the weather for the foreseeable future.

TEXOMA'S WEATHER AUTHORITY: Current conditions from across Texoma

The dog days of summer are upon us as the hot and sunny pattern will only strengthen for the weekend and heading into next week. A stray shower or storm will be possible for this afternoon, but they will stay very isolated, with most of the region not seeing any rain or relief.

Temperatures overnight will tumble back down into the mid to upper 70s. Winds will increase slightly Friday and Saturday afternoons with some wind gusts reaching up to 20 miles per hour at times.

Next week, more of the same as temperatures continue to hover around 100 degrees for afternoon highs. Some relief could arrive for the second half of next week, as a cold front is expected to push into the region from the north.

Keep your fingers crossed for some cooler air and rain but will have to wait until the end of next week at the earliest.
